Frequently asked questions

What causes hair loss during menopause?

Hair loss during menopause is primarily caused by hormonal changes, specifically a decrease in estrogen levels. This hormonal imbalance affects hair growth cycles, leading to thinning and shedding.

How common is hair loss in menopause?

Hair loss is a common symptom experienced by many women during menopause. It affects approximately 50% of women over 50, and has been reported to affect more than 80% of women over 60.

What are the signs and symptoms of menopausal hair loss?

Signs of menopausal hair loss include gradual thinning, excessive shedding, wider partings, and a decrease in hair volume and density.

What is minoxidil, and how does it help with hair loss?

Minoxidil is a topical medication that promotes hair growth. As a vasodilator, minoxidil widens blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. By prolonging the growth phase of the hair follicles, minoxidil allows them to produce thicker and longer strands. It also revitalizes dormant follicles, encouraging new hair growth.

What is finasteride, and how does it help with hair loss?

Finasteride is an oral medication that helps treat hair loss. It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can contribute to hair follicle shrinkage and hair loss. By inhibiting DHT production, finasteride helps to maintain the growth phase of the hair cycle and preserve existing hair.

What is special about Evernow haircare’s hair loss products?

Evernow offers two haircare products – a 5.6% minoxidil / 0.3% finasteride topical solution and oral minoxidil. As a Evernow member, you get expert guided hair care from our team of medical providers, tailored treatment plans personalized to you, and unlimited ongoing support along your hair journey.

Are there any age restrictions for using the Evernow hair loss products?

We currently offer our hair loss solutions to women 40 and over, if they meet all other criteria for use.

Will my insurance cover Evernow’s hair loss product(s)?

Specific coverage for oral minoxidil may vary depending on your insurance provider and the terms of your policy. Contact your insurance company directly or consult with your healthcare provider to determine if oral minoxidil is covered and what costs are involved. The minoxidil/finasteride formulation is not covered by insurance, but you can pay out-of-pocket and have the product shipped monthly to your door.

Are the hair care medications included in my membership fee?

All hair care products are an additional fee on top of your monthly Evernow membership fee. Please check our website for the latest prices for each medication. Your medications will be billed separately as a part of your Evernow membership. Other than the cost of your medication, your Evernow membership fee – which covers access to our providers, exclusive content and more – will not change.
